I got a chance to talk with both Jones and Tibesar after Chryst's signing day press conference. Wasn't surprised to find out that Tibesar recommended Jones to Chryst after the two worked together in Montreal during the 2011 season, but Tibesar told me he also tried to hire Jones at Purdue when he took over as defensive coordinator there in 2012. Jones had just accepted the DBs job at Hawaii, though, and didn't want to go back on that opportunity.
