First - hasn't taken long for Chryst to clean up in-state, has it? I have always been a strong proponent of taking care of business in your backyard first and then cherry-picking the national guys you can get. When you build the base of your class with local talent, you have stronger classes when they arrive on campus because those guys tend to set the tone for the class and they understand your traditions and culture. I'm not saying take lesser guys from your backyard, but when you can lock up the guys you want in your backyard and build your class from there, you're sitting pretty. Wisconsin has not taken any reaches (We actually have yet to see film on Fenton, which is why he remains unrated, but the other guys in-state are all very solid) and the guys they are getting from in-state are talented.
Now, on Beach, I have come here and said several times that we are conservative early on with rankings. And yet, Beach was a guy we started off as a four-star. That is how impressive he is on film. We will get a chance to see him live at the Kansas City Rivals Camp in May, and I am definitely looking forward to getting a fresh eval on him. But, what I love on film about Beach is No. 1 he has that length and that athleticism where he could play the all-important LT position. No. 2 he has the versatility that he could conceivably play any position along the offensive line. No. 3 he plays with a healthy intensity and comfortably handles the point of attack. That's the quick scouting report on him, but in conclusion this is obviously a huge get.
