Don't understand these shorter WSDE's we're recruitting

We don't ask our DE's to beat their man much, we funnel the ball carriers to the gaps the linebackers can charge through.
We don't ask the DE"s to get all the sacks, just need them to clean up what the OLB's/Safety blitzers flush out.
Soo, why not have all 6'4-5-6 DE's who can put up arms and knocks down passes.
Yes there's room for the Alec James type who can do a little bit of both but overall seems like the bigger heavier Loudermilk types make the most sense and many of them are tweeners in a 4-3.
Like them better than the shorter obiasih types.
