I dont know if anyone brought this up, but doug had some interesting tweets last night.
He said he feels like the wisconsin basketball program is in trouble as a whole. Mike Heller and Robb vogel (badger radio guys) argued back and forth with him a little and gottlieb responded. Basically he said we have absolutely no talent outside of Happ. He said "the good news is they are all back next year, the bad news is they are all back next year." Also said that the big ten is as down as it will ever be and wisconsin is at the bottom.
Heller brought up that king is the most talented and is hurt along with trice...
I dont like Gottlieb, he also said this year the hornibrook wouldnt start on any Big 12 team.
But his point is valid... we all keep talking about this young team and the injuries, but the point is that we dont have any elite talent... Davidson and King are pretty good and will have good careers, but right now we have an all american talent in Happ and we are still bad...
There are no good recruits coming in next year. My honest opinion is that next years team wont bump us back up to a tournament team. Guys cant shoot, no one is really that athletic except Iverson who cant shoot, happ cant make free throws or jump shots so teams can easily double... we dont have any size (hes not playing van vliet, thomas or ilikanen enough to matter....
I dont know what else to say, until we have a class full of sure fire all big ten type guys, wisconsin is going to be in a down streak... We have some good possibilities coming up in 2019 etc, but who knows if we land any of those guys.
There is still hope that when davidson, king and reuvers are juniors/seniors, that they all improve a great deal and are a pretty solid trio, I will give us that... but do we have enough athletic ability and size to play defense against good, fast, big teams?
