FB has remained a very important position for what we do....certainly bigger than what I stated early in the season
next year we have Ingold as a senior and no one else....Whalen was moved to FB but he's at best a question mark because of injuries....the walk-on (forget his name) left the program...so we have nothing in the pipeline... what do we do????????
the backup at Indiana (when Ramesh was out) was Neuville....but he's too valuable at TE even if Jake Ferguson is as good as advertised ...so options are a grad transfer, a juco ....both highly unlikely... or a position change:
* Brodner... might be his only ticket to getting on the field ...might be a less taxing position on his knee too because he won't be asked to make the radical cuts that a RB makes on nearly every play ... listed at 5'10 216 so he'd need to add about 15# of muscle making him not much different in size as Ewing, for example ...I'd rule out Deal because he simply can't be counted on
* a LB ...Stokke would be logical because he was an outstanding high school RB & a legit tough guy who knows leverage as proven as a state champ wrestler, but will he ever play again because of the injuries?
** EDIT** ....a outside the box idea: two scout team DE's: Howe & Preston ...as one-dimensional blockers who will never be asked to touch the ball (might explain the visit by the DE/OLB prospect from Texas)
