Have been impressed with the way the team is responding to him as head coach over last few weeks.
I think his use of Illikainen over Brown, his reduction in minutes to Iverson and his guidance to Hayes to find his jumper and pound the ball inside have all worked out. I also have noticed Gard's command on the bench and what seems like his comfort level being the man roaming sidelines and make all of the coaching decisions.
I think if the Badgers go through their next 5 games at 4-1 or even 5-0 that Alvarez would have a tough time not taking notice and hopefully granting Gard a contract extension to the be the permanent Head Coach.
Our program has built momentum over the last 10+ years based on Bo Ryan's philosophy and style. I don't see any reason why we wouldn't extend the foundation that has been laid by retaining Gard, locking in future recruiting talent and possibly motivating Hayes and Koenig to stay around for another year.
