Espn:

Size-Strength-Speed
Prospect with good height. Needs to continue to try and pack on some more good mass, but overall a well-built prospect with thick, sturdy build. Solid athlete with excellent playing strength. Demonstrates a nice initial burst.

Versus the Run
Can be a tough player against the run. Demonstrates ability to fire out low and plays with good leverage and when he does can be tough to move with one blocker. Will battle and is adequate against the double team, but needs to continue to improve and add size. Can do a very nice job of bringing his hands, demonstrating powerful upper body strength to press and shed from blockers. Displays good lateral ability to be active down the line.

Pass Rush Skills
When he fires out low flashes a good bull rush to move the QB off the spot. Displays active and heavy hands and can execute an effective rip move. With a combination of strength, effort and technique can be a disruptive interior rusher.

Toughness/Motor
Prospect that clearly checks both these boxes. Physical player that battles to get the job done and work to get around the ball and looks to really enjoy playing the game.

Bottom Line
Rand is not a real tough prospect to like. He is a good, tough football player that has some room to develop further, but with positive progress could be a solid contributor early with the ability to grow into a real productive multi-year starter and potentially be the guy who anchors a unit.

Underclassman Eval
STRENGTHS: Rand is a physical lineman. Bit of a 'tweener build at this stage, but well-built with a lot of bulk. Has the speed to work down the line to the perimeter and will work hard to get into a play when it's away from him. Plays with good low pad level and solid overall leverage. Flashes a good bull rush. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Needs to become more refined in hand usage. Will battle double teams and flashes ability to split, but still needs to work to add more size. ... BOTTOM LINE: Rand has the build of a smaller DT but has enough athleticism to play DE if necessary. His overall physical development and growth should help land him at either the DE or DT position depending upon his maturity. Overall though a tough, physical versatile DL.
