SO, we ALL pretty much hoped Hirschfeld would move to LT/RT but he was kept on defense at SSDE.
I was a little skeptical becuase when i watched his HS film, I saw a big , fast guy who had good push directly to the QB but a guy who did not move laterally very well at all.
After a few years in the program, he seems more flexible and in his cameos, i have been impressed with his ability and improvment.
Yesterday, he lifted up a big paw and knocked a pass down at the line which is what playing a 6'6 , 4/3 defensive End is all about.
He has the strength and push to occupy blockers and the athleticism to put an arm up and shutdown a passing lane.
If Patterson doesn't improve and Sheehy has to back up SAgapolu in the middle, especially on passing downs, wouldn't mind seeing Hirschfeld on the field more often to see what he can do.
