What do you guys think about his performance?
Good:
1. I noticed that his arm strength is clearly improved. He threw a few bullets (the 3rd down conversion on a crossing route to Fumagalli came to mind) yesterday.
2. Accuracy was pretty good. I didn't see throws that were off the mark. Didn't see anything thrown to the ground 5 feet before the receivers, high throws out of reach or behind guys. Bart Houston had accuracy problems and Stave had a tendency to be erratic as well. Kent Myers overthrew a few last night - one became a Dick Pick.
Not so good:
1. Late to very late on some throws. A few of the drops were attributable to his late throws. The ball should be arriving as the receivers turned around. Utah St's DBs were pedestrian but they had time to close in to the receivers because the ball was late. Receivers were open for a while and had to wait for the ball to arrive.
2. Not recognizing the blitzes from Utah St. Stave was pretty good at pre-snap reads. It's a work in progress for Horni.
It's understandable for a sophomore QB to have things he's already good at and things he has to work on.
