After reading a great article on recruiting last week posted by Sully and seeing the actual numbers broken down by number of stars vs high school players, I used those numbers for Wisconsin high school football.
Here are % Nationally
SR - 4,000
JR - 5,000
SO - 6,000
FR - 8,000
If Wisconsin has 4,000 seniors here are the % extrapolated to those numbers:
5* = .4 ~ 0
4* = 5.2 ~ 5
3* = 17.6 ~ 18
2* = 24.8 ~ 25
Using Rivals star system, here are the actual numbers using the last 10 years averaged:
5* = 0 ~ 0
4* = 1.3 ~ 1
3* = 7.4 ~ 7
2* = 14.2 ~14
The degree Wisconsin is under-recruited surprised me.
Here are % Nationally
- 30 five-stars, or 0.01 percent of the class
- 380 four-stars, or 0.13 percent of the class
- 1,328 three-stars, or 0.44 percent of the class
- 1,859 two-stars, or 0.62 percent of the class
- 296,403 unrated, or 98.88 percent of the class
SR - 4,000
JR - 5,000

FR - 8,000
