My excursion into Wisconsin's In State recruiting success made me curious about the other Big Ten states, so I continued to play around. It may only interest me, but I'm sharing with the class anyway.

Looks at 2010 through 2022 classes, as ranked by Rivals, and makes no analysis about the applicability of any given player for a given school academically or in any other way. Straight list info. Top dog in '22 class may not have announced, hence the 12 v 13 totals.

Nebraska - 10 of 12 - No real surprise, given the Huskers position, as with UW, as the only D1 FB program in the state. Run includes the last 5 (2022 top recruit has not announced). One they lost was Noah Fant to Iowa

Iowa - 4 of 12 - I would have expected Ferentz to have done better. 2 went to ISU, (one was Allan Lazard), 2 to Nebraska and Michigan and 1 each to TCU and Oregon. Tristan Wirfs was #2 his year behind Oliver Martin, a WR who went to Michigan and who I don't remember at all.

Minnesota - 4 of 13 - The ol' boat rower has yet to land the top guy in Minnesota during his tenure and has signed an average of 2.5 Top 10 Minnesota kids since his arrival. The Kill/Claeys tenure was better.

Illinois - Ill 0 of 13, NU 1 of 13 - If you want an explanation as to why Illinois has been a dumpster fire, here may be reason #1. Not only did the Fightin' Illini not get a single top Illinois player during this time, they signed a grand total of 7 of the 120 players that made up the top 10 from the 2010 to 2021 classes. They already know the top guy in 2022 is going elsewhere. Bart has his hands full, or empty. I wouldn't have guessed NU to be much different, given their uniqueness within the B1G, and they're not. The Fightin' Fitzes have signed 11 of the 113 that didn't go to Urbana, but they did get the #1 guy last year, Mac Uihlein, who I remember the Badgers being after, too. Knowing Notre Dame's influence in Chicago, I was surprised that none of the wayward 12 went to South Bend, either.

Indiana - IU 0 of 12, PU 1 of 12 - also not surprisingly, Notre Dame has reeled in 4, and 7 other schools have gotten 1. Tom Allen has improved the performance in Bloomington, increasing the quantity and quality of home state kids on the roster. Purdue, not so much, except 2019 when they got both David Bell and George Karlaftis, the top 2 in the state that year. PU has signed only 11 of the potential 120 Top 10 Indiana kids since the class of 2010

Ohio - 9 of 13 - OSU does just fine, thank you, cherry picking the list for roughly 4 of the Top 10 Ohio kids each year. For example, they currently have #1,2,4 and 5 from the 2022 class committed

Michigan - 7 of 13 - Um 2 of 13, MSU 5 of 13 - This really surprised me. Dantonio did great in the '10-'14 classes, with 4 Top Raters; slowed from '15-'18, with one #1 and fewer Top 5; and finished with zero Top 10 home state kids in '20 and '21 classes. Coach Khaki Pants takes some home kids, including the #1 in 2022, but clearly maintains the Ann Arbor Self Delusion of being a national recruiter.

Pennsylvania - 3 of 12 - I understand why they initially liked Franklin; all three came in his first 4 years. '19-'21 hasn't been as good, (welcome to Madison, Nolan!)

New Jersey - 3 of 13 - Much has been made of Schiano getting the top NJ kid in the 2022 class; he did it a couple of times at the beginning of this window, too

Maryland - Who cares.
