Don't understand why women's hoops doesn't get advice and assistance from somebody like Bo Ryan, I mean, there's an age and era gap but you'd think Bobbie would want Bo to mentor her a little or am I being Naive?

DAYTON, Ohio — Bobbie Kelsey is not one to mince words when her University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team doesn’t play up to her expectations.

And the coach didn’t try to hide her disappointment after the Badgers were blown out 87-64 Sunday by Dayton.

The Flyers (3-0) jumped out to a 12-0 lead and busted open a 57-35 halftime lead on UW (1-2).

“It’s embarrassing when we come out and play like that,” Kelsey said. “In the second half we held them to 30 points. We need to make that the first half. We can’t wait till we’re down 20 and then try to figure this stuff out. This is a senior-laden team, so it’s just very frustrating.”

UW committed 26 turnovers, leading to 33 of Dayton’s points. While she credited Dayton’s defense for part of those turnovers, she laid most of the problem at the hands of her own players.

“A lot of our turnovers are not (the opponent),” she said. “Some of it is just us throwing the ball away. I just don’t understand it.”
