As a casual observer of Nebraska's football program I really struggle to see how they regain their football status unless they were to hire a coach that could deliver near immediate success that's obvious to football fans. (.ie similar to Brohm at Purdue)
It's early in Riley's 3rd year and their fan base, including their beat writers, have become restless. Their solution to everything is to fire the AD, fire the coach, fire the OL coach etc.. It's got to be incredibly tough to build any sort of momentum with that program.
I'll admit I thought Riley would be fairly successful (at least challenging for the division every year) but I see a soft program. They may run similar plays to Chryst and company but their team lacks overall toughness. Talent is one thing but the lack of overall toughness is another.
Overall it seems that fanbase, media and maybe administration really make it difficult for overall success.
