TEAM NOTES

Today’s captains: senior TE Troy Fumagalli, senior S Natrell Jamerson, senior DE Alec James and senior WR Jazz Peavy.

Wisconsin improved to 12-3 (.800) away from home under third-year head coach Paul Chryst, including a 9-1 (.900) record in true road games.

Wisconsin is now 11-1 vs. non-conference opponents under Chryst. The Badgers have won 11 straight games vs. non-conference foes since suffering a 35-17 loss to No. 3 Alabama in Chryst’s debut as head coach on Sept. 5, 2015.

The Badgers’ 11-game non-conference win streak is the second-longest in modern school history (since 1946). UW won 14 straight games vs. non-conference opponents from Sept. 3, 2005 to Oct. 20, 2007.

Wisconsin won its first non-conference road game since a 41-21 win at UNLV on Sept. 4, 2012. The Badgers had lost their last two non-conference road games, at Oregon State in 2012 and at Arizona State in 2013.

Overall, UW has won 21 of its last 25 games (.840), dating back to the 2015 season.

The Badgers won their second straight over the Cougars to improve to 2-1 all-time vs. BYU. The teams are scheduled to meet again in Madison on Sept. 15, 2018.

UW racked up more than 30 points for the third time in three games this season. Dating back to last season, the Badgers have reached the 30-point threshold in 7 of their last 8 games and a total of 13 times under Chryst.

Wisconsin has had a balanced offensive attack this season, totaling at least 200 yards rushing and receiving in each of the first 3 games. Last season, the Badgers had 2 total 200/200 games. The last time UW had 3 consecutive 200/200 games came in the first 3 games of the 2013 season.

The Badgers held BYU to just 192 total yards. That is the fewest by a UW opponent since Rutgers managed a mere 165 total yards in 2015. It is the fewest yards surrendered in a road game since Rutgers finished with only 139 yards in New Brunswick, N.J. in 2014.

Including only 81 rushing yards by BYU, the Badgers have held their opponent under 100 yards rushing in 10 of 16 games over the last 2 seasons.

Wisconsin did not surrender any second-half points against BYU. The Badgers have now out-scored opponents 72-0 in the second half this season.

UW converted 2 BYU turnovers in 10 points. On the season, Wisconsin has 34 points off turnovers.

Wisconsin held BYU without a touchdown, marking the seventh game doing so under Chryst.

The Badgers were credited with a TEAM safety in the fourth quarter, the team’s first safety since facing Akron on Sept. 10, 2016.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

Sophomore QB Alex Hornibrook set the Wisconsin single-game completion percentage record, going 18-for-19 (94.7%). The previous record was held by Darrell Bevell on a 17-for-18 (94.4%) performance vs. Nortwestern in 1993.

Hornibrook also set career highs with 256 yards passing and 4 touchdown passes. He is the first Badgers QB to throw for 4 touchdowns since Russell Wilson threw 4 at Minnesota (11/12/11).

Hornibrook posted a career-best 277.4 pass efficiency rating, the second-highest mark in school history. Only John Stocco’s mark of 296.7 vs. Indiana (9/30/06) is higher.

On third down against BYU, Hornibrook was a perfect 7-for-7 for 95 yards with 2 TDs (308.3 passer rating).

On the season, Hornibrook is 17-for-22 for 222 yards with 4 TDs and 0 INTs on third down. That’s good for a 145.7 passer rating.

Hornibrook completed a 50-yard pass to Danny Davis in the second quarter, the third completion of 50+ yards in his career and first of the season.

Freshman RB Jonathan Taylor carried 18 times for 128 yards, becoming the first UW freshman to rush for 100 yards in back-to-back games since Corey Clement ran for 102 yards vs. UMass on Aug. 31 and 149 vs. Western Illinois on Sept. 7, 2013.

Redshirt freshman CB Dontye Carrierre-Williams recorded the first interception of his career in the fourth quarter and led the Badgers with a career-high 8 tackles.
