Not enough to gather from today's practice to warrant a full report, but here are just some bullets on today's practice session and interviews following.

  • Jordan Hill got some run at the 2 today after Bo benched Zak Showalter for a sloppy turnover. Hill's movement off the ball was beautiful to watch, and he was aggressive on the offensive glass as he grabbed two offensive boards which resulted in 5 second-chance points.
  • Koenig, Showalter, Hayes, Happ, Brown, Hill, Thomas, Iverson all got run on the first team today. It appears as if this will be the rotation for now. AC Lamont Paris told me after practice that the coaching staff views Andy van Vliet as a guy who may not get a lot of minutes early on, but that he will add some mass over the next couple of months in time for a decent role during Big Ten play. "The skill set is there."
  • Brevin Pritzl (foot) will not play in tomorrow's exhibition. "I was just trying to look on the bright side, but it’s not going to happen," he told me after practice. He did some basketball-related rehab today with strength and conditioning coach Erik Helland, but other than that he still has yet to do any possession work with the team. As for redshirting, Pritzl is going to wait and see. It seems to me like he would rather not redshirt, but he also doesn't want to simply be a guy who doesn't get any playing time.
  • Alex Illikainen has discussed the idea of redshirting with members of the team and the coaching staff. No decision has been made yet, but he seemed open to the idea.
I'll have a feature up tomorrow on the redshirt situation.
