When I made my QB Hot Take post I hoped I would be wrong…so far we lost and Mertz didn’t play well…could play calling have been better?yep, but the play calling gave the badgers enough chances to win…Mertz ruined the 1st drive when he Took a bad sack on 1st drive ...forgot snap count causing false start at 2 yd line...almast threw an int.. then threw into double coverage in end zone..then handed ball into melluzi shoulder on that 1st fumble…rarely gave WR a chance to run after the catch…thankfully Ferguson and Davis made amazing catches…then he fumbled again on the 2 yd line…the last drive he was able to stand back and make some throws that he was being given…then we needed him to make a clutch throw to Dike and he just couldn’t do it…I agree the play calling could have been better but badgers had plenty of chances to score and the QB let us down…I really don’t think he will transfer but we have to remember that he never really won this job…when coan went down he was given the job…would kill for coan right now…oh by the way I was also right that MN would be decent as well…their season depends on if Ibrahim is healthy …badger season depends on Mertz…I think both teams are going to be frustrated…he will step in front of the camera this week and say all the right things…I am going to judge him based on what he does and not what he says
