Last week, Jack Pettinger passed. Jack led Wisconsin's Swim program for > 20 season. He produced World Record Holders, Olympians, NCAA and Big 10 Champions.

Jack really didn't care about all that stuff. Whether you were a 10 year old girl or a 22 year old man, within two minutes of meeting Jack he was figuring out how he could make you better.

I swam for Jack Pettinger in 1992, and 1993 at UW and 1994 for Badger Dolphins. I don't know how to describe Jack to you succintly.

What I can say about the man is: I've been a NJ state champion, YMCA national champion, a Junior National Champion and at one point in the early 90's (Thanks to Jack) I developed into one of the 25 fastest swimmers on the planet. However, the great acheivement of my swimming career was to earn the love, respect, and life long friendship of Jack Pettinger.

1993 Jack's final UW Team. Jack is the coach on the left. Your's truly is smack dab in the middle of that row.
