I thought they did a pretty poor job of letting us know the names of the players, considering how many young players were playing. Names would be great but maybe that is not possible with the practice jerseys. Too often, someone would make a play, and B Williams would be talking and they didn't identify who made the play. Not all the time but too often for my taste.
It is hard to get feel for the team, when so many players, that will start, were held out or injured. That being said, we have some awfully good looking physical players on this team. The comment they made about the secondary being the fastest in the big ten, made me question if they meant the west or the whole conference. I find it hard to believe that we have a faster secondary than Ohio st or Michigan. Maybe we do, and if we do, this defense could do big things. All our young corners, looked the part to me. Nice to see. Madison Cone looked like a kid with a nice future. the size of guys like loudermilk, bell, rand, and others was impressive. the speed of our LBers was great to. This team defensively, is going to make it really hard for teams to move the ball. I am thinking we have two lock down corners in Tindal and Nelson, and both, should get more picks than typical.
Just watching Chryst and how he interacts, you get the impression that the players really enjoy his style and personality. Just a great down to earth guy, that is very cerebral and you kind of feel like the kids know they are going to get a fair shot. He has done a great job of getting the right kids in the program. Impressive.
If Horni continues to progress like I think he will, this team is going to have a really good season. Our o line is going to maul people and our backs are going to have some really big games, where the pass game might be irrelevant. Our defense, with the depth that we have, is not going to tire in the second half. I think we are going to play way more players than we have in the past. Will bode well, for the future. Can't wait for September 1.
