Apologize if this has been covered in one of the many playoff discussion threads.

Why is UW getting hammered on their SOS and Alabama and Georgia are not? Looking at the Sagarin SOS rankings Georgia is at 51, Alabama at 55 and UW at 69. That is not all that much of a difference. All the idiot talking heads seem to ignore this and have both Bama and Georgia as locks for top 4 even though their SOS suggests they haven't really been challenged either.

The media plays a huge role in setting the table for the perception of teams and this is why I think the CFB playoffs process needs to change. Even if UW wins out, the media has already set the narrative of an easy schedule and UW could be screwed over.

I don't care much for the ongoing debate through the season on the CFB playoff rankings as most of the discussion is premature and allows the media to shape the discussion and influence the process. I think CFB would be better served with an 8 team playoff. Allow all the major conference champions a spot in the playoff and then a few at large teams. I think you could get creative and take the highest ranked small conference champion and give them a spot too. I bet some years that team wins a game in an 8 team system.
