IMO this is a great class, given all the chaos for the recruits & our program. When GA left us UW went under a microscope & our family business became national news. Was it BA? Was it academics? What happens to our staff & recruits? Can Chryst recruit? Now we can all breathe a sigh of relief & weigh in on how well he coaches a successful program...
Losing key players, especially on D, sucks. But no way can you blame PC for all the academics or guys who you knew were on the fence until NSD anyway. So, since we lost a bunch of schollies promised & the new staff got such a late start, you've got to applaud PC & co for taking the opportunity to rebuild the wall around Wisconsin. Some of these kids will be very good, & it'll be awesome having in-state walk-on stars to root for as fans. Plus the core of this class is in place, so top it off with Farrar & I'd say today is a WIN!
For all the panic attacks induced, I'd say getting an NFL pedigree WR coach is a win, too... Guess we'll see how long he stays or what kind of recruiter he makes, but in the meantime PLEASE coach up the young receivers like an NFL'er!
As for next season, are these the biggest questions?
1. QB play
2. D line
3. Inside backers
Not that I know how it will work out, but it seems to me that PC & co are turning the corner position into a positive. Obviously starting with holding onto Booker, but Jamerson & Trezy both have a chance to bring major speed to the position, which we haven't had before. With the returners, do you guys predict the position as a strength or weakness?
Safety position is solid, as Hudson & the younger guys can develop. Outside backers are strong. What do we think of the ends & tackles we have to work with next season?
O-line is good. RB's, ummmm... we're good. QB? PC = master. I'm hoping for a splash from Gillins or AK, but that's a long-shot. So, let's see how well PC tailors his O around his guy, probably Sunshine.
I think if we can fill the middle of our D with guys ready to step up, this year we'll be strong, & we can be like the juggernaut Sparty has become or better over the next 3-4 years.
