I watched highlights from all of their games so far, here are a few things that we need to figure out how to stop, and things we need to do if we want to win.
Special teams- peppers gets them good field position basically every time he returns a kick, need to keep it away from him to win field position game.
Also, they blocked a couple punts in one game, and against colorado they were inches away from blocking 2 more.... those near blocks led to short kicks and good field position for UM. They bring the house on punts. THis really changes games for them.
They really pressure the QB, peppers sits back and cleans up short passes. Just when you think he is going to sit back, he blitzs and is there so fast you cant stop him. We are going to need to make quick decisions and have excellent pass protection if we want to get anything through the air. THey seem to get to the QB all the time.....
We are going to need a good game out of Clement. With them constantly hurrying the QB I can see Hornibrook making some mistakes, the only way to really make them stop the constant blitzing is to get the running game going.
they throw a lot of quick passes to the outside and to Butt across the middle. Lots of quick slants too.... may need to press up on receivers to stop this and hope our linebackers continue to get to the QB.
They have several players that have runs and also receptions so they like to pass to guys coming out of the back field.
Overall they are susceptible to the run on the outside, the middle is pretty well clogged up... Clement will have to break some outside...
That being said colorado put up quite a few points on UM, we can too... We cant allow special teams to help decide the game in their favor. They have been stellar in special teams, not just peppers, but punt blocking as well.... Penn States D is horrible so I wouldnt worry too much about the score in that game.
Peppers has only touched the ball twice this year on offense, might try to use him more who knows. If he isnt getting the ball on punts I could see them using him on O more to get touches
