We're about 10 days out and no more practices are open to reporters.
OL looks beat up. Defense looks solid. New coach, new staff. How does the season shake out?
My guess:
VS Alabama - L - 14-38 Just don't see it happening. The defense has to play lights out, the specials have to be perfect and the offense line has to play really well. I can see the first two but not the 3rd. Still worried about the ILB's going up against Bama's OL and RB's. Could get ugly quickly.
Miami (OH) - W - 45-10 I think they get all their frustration out in this game.
Troy - W - 63-13 Not close
Hawaii - W - 47-7 Yay!
Iowa - W - 27-17 I think UW is better at most positions. OL should have it together by now.
@Nebraska - L - 28-31 I think the Badgers struggle in their first real road game. Lose on a late FG.
Purdue - W - 40- 17 Purdue is just bad.
@Illinois - W - 45-10 Illinois is even worse.
Rutgers - W - 38-17 At home, UW dominates. JJ Denman has the greatest game ever by an OL. Gives up no pressures, 15 pancake blocks, catches a TD pass, sings national anthem, BA says after the game he's the greatest OL he's ever seen play, gets memorialized with statue outside Camp Randall.
@Maryland - W 28-17 Yay!
Northwestern - W - 30-10 Payback.
@Minnesota - W - 31-27 Close game. Toughest game all year. This is the Gopher Super Bowl. QB play is difference. Late drive by Stave leads to a TD pass with 15 seconds left and the axe stays in Madison.
Overall: 10-2
Could easily 9-3 or 11-1. Could beat Nebraska and lose to Minnesota. This schedule really helps UW. Iowa scares me but they're always supposed to be good when no one expects anything from them, and the last five years no one has expected anything from them and they haven't done anything.
