  • With records of 10-3, 11-3 and 13-1 in his first 3 seasons at the helm of his alma mater, Chryst joins Michigan’s Fielding Yost (1901- 03) and Ohio State’s Urban Meyer (2012-14) as the only coaches in league history to win 10-plus games in each of their first 3 seasons.

  • Wisconsin’s senior class scored its 45th win, extending its school record for the most wins in a four-year period.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES

Freshman RB Jonathan Taylor broke the FBS freshman rushing record previously held by Oklahoma’s Adrian Peterson (1,925 yards in 2004). He finished the season with 1,977 yards, the fourth-best single-season total in UW history.

Taylor recorded the 10th 100-yard rushing game of his rookie season. Only Melvin Gordon (12 in 2014) has had more in a single season for the Badgers.

Senior OLB Leon Jacobs and senior S Joe Ferguson finished their careers ranked 1-2 all-time among major college players in games played. Jacobs extended his own FBS record by playing in his 59th game, while Ferguson played in his 58th to rank No. 2.

Sophomore QB Alex Hornibrook recorded the fourth 3-touchdown game of his career, setting a Wisconsin bowl game record. He threw for 24 touchdowns this season to rank second on UW’s single-season list behind only Russell Wilson (33 in 2011).

Hornibrook’s 4 TD passes are a Wisconsin bowl record. Prior to tonight, no Badger QB had thrown more than two touchdown passes in a bowl game.

Hornibrook improved to 20-3 (.870) as the Badgers’ starter, the best win percentage of any QB in school history.

Freshman WR Danny Davis became the first Badgers player to record multiple touchdown receptions in a bowl game.

Senior CB Derrick Tindal, a Fort Lauderdale native, recorded his 3rd interception of the season (and 5th of his career), intercepting Miami QB Malik Rosier in the end zone in the third quarter.

Junior OLB Andrew Van Ginkel recorded the 2nd interception of his career, and 2nd in
as many games, with a pick of Rosier in the second quarter.

Junior K Rafael Gaglianone hit a 35-yard field goal in the first quarter and 47-yarder in the third quarter to finish 16-for-18 on field goals this season. Gaglianone has converted 26 of his last 29 attempts, dating back to the 2015 Holiday Bowl.
