TEAM NOTES

·Today’s captains: junior S D’Cota Dixon, senior TE Troy Fumagalli, senior S Natrell Jamerson and senior DE Alec James.

·The Badgers scored their 12th-consecutive win over Purdue, extending the longest win streak by either team in series history and the second-longest streak by UW against a Big Ten team all-time (13 straight vs. Minnesota, 2004-present).

·Wisconsin is off to a 6-0 start for the fifth time in the modern era (1946-present), and the first time since 2011.

·The Badgers are bowl-eligible for the 16th-consecutive season, extending the Big Ten’s longest active streak.

·Wisconsin owns a record of 38-9 (.809) since the start of the 2014 season, trailing only Alabama (46-4, .920 entering Saturday), Ohio State (41-5, .891 entering Saturday) and Clemson (43-6, .878) in terms of wins and winning percentage among FBS programs in that span.

·Wisconsin improved to 18-3 (.857) vs. the Big Ten West Division since the league moved to its current divisional lineup in 2014.

·The Badgers are 29-7 (.806) in conference play over the last 5 seasons (2013-17). Only Ohio State (35-3, .921 entering Saturday) has a better league record over that span.

·UW improved to 27-6 (.818) under third-year head coach Paul Chryst.

·The Badgers have won 24 of their last 28 games (.857), dating back to Chryst’s first season in 2015.

·Wisconsin racked up 494 yards of total offense, the team’s highest total in a Big Ten game since piling up 627 yards against Nebraska on Nov. 15, 2014.

·UW converted a season-high 9 3rd downs, finishing the game 9-for-14 on 3rd down.

·The Badgers surrendered just 3 second-half points against Purdue. On the season, UW’s defense has allowed just 17 total points in the second half. The Badgers defense has scored 18 points themselves after intermission this season.

·Wisconsin held Purdue to just 66 rushing yards, marking the 4th opponent that has failed to crack 100 yards against the Badgers this season. Dating back to last season, UW has held 8 of its last 12 opponents under 100 yards rushing.

·Purdue tallied just 221 total yards, becoming the 4th UW opponent that has failed to reach 250 yards of total offense.

·Wisconsin limited Purdue to 0 touchdowns on 4 red zone trips. UW has allowed just 5 TDs on 19 opponent red zone trips this season. The Badgers entered the game leading the nation in opponent red zone percentage, at 33.3%.


INDIVIDUAL NOTES

·Freshman RB Jonathan Taylor carried a career-high 30 times for 219 yards (7.3 average) with 1 touchdown. He also caught his first-career pass, a 17-yard reception in the first quarter.

·Taylor broke loose for a 67-yard touchdown run on his third carry of the game, his third run of 60-plus yards.

·Taylor surpassed the 200-yard rushing mark for the 3rd time and topped the 100-yard rushing mark for the 4th time in 6 career games.

·Taylor is just the sixth freshman since 2000 to post 3 games of 200-plus rushing yards in a season, and the first since Oklahoma’s Samaje Perine in 2014. He joins North Texas’ Jamario Thomas (6 games, 2004); Michigan’s Mike Hart (3, 2004); Oklahoma’s Adrian Peterson (3, 2004); Northwestern’s Tyrell Sutton (3, 2005) and Perine (3, 2014) on that list.

·Sophomore WR Quintez Cephus finished with a career-high 100 yards receiving on 5 catches. He also caught his fifth touchdown pass of the season — and 4th in UW’s last 4 games — a 14-yard reception in the first quarter.

·Senior DE Conor Sheehy registered his 4th career sack and his first of the season.

·Senior DE Alec James posted his 2nd sack of the season. He now has 6.5 in his career.

·Senior OLB Garret Dooley recorded a sack against Purdue, giving him a team-high 5.5 on the season. He also leads the team with 8.5 tackles for loss.

·Senior OLB Leon Jacobs tallied a season-high 9 tackles and recorded the second interception of his career, snagging a Elijah Sindelar pass at the UW 11 yard line in the fourth quarter.

·Junior CB Nick Nelson recorded 2 pass breakups, giving him 7 in the Badgers’ last 3 games, and a team-high 9 on the season.

·Redshirt freshman CB Dontye Carriere-Williams matched his career high with 2 pass breakups.

·Junior K Rafael Gaglianone converted a 46-yard field goal in the second quarter, his longest since hitting a 48-yarder vs. LSU on Sept. 3, 2016. Gaglinaone has converted 16 of his last 18 attempts, dating back to the 2015 Holiday Bowl.
