If Gard was fired, who would you want as a HC? A guy who pushes the tempo? A defensive minded HC? A recruiting wizard? The reason that I ask this is, how many years would you think that it would take to turn the program around? Do you think that it would be a 1 year turn around? 2,3,4 year? This is what LK and his staff are doing. They are taking a smash mouth team into a pass heavy team. Give them time.
