TEAM NOTES

Today’s captains: senior WR Chimere Dike, senior QB Tanner Mordecai, senior ILB Maema Njongmeta, senior OLB Marty Strey.

Today’s attendance at Camp Randall Stadium was 74,885.

Wisconsin won its 400th Big Ten game, becoming the third team in the conference to reach the milestone.

Wisconsin improved to 2-0 in conference play for the fourth time in the last 7 seasons.

Wisconsin improved to 5-0 all-time versus Rutgers, outscoring Rutgers 192-43.

By winning the first five games of the series, UW’s five-game win streak is the longest to start a series against a current Big Ten team since winning its first five against Iowa. Wisconsin won the first five matchups with the Hawkeyes when the BIg Ten began in 1896.

Wisconsin has never allowed a first-half touchdown against Rutgers.

The Badgers have now won 10-straight homecoming games. UW hasn’t lost on homecoming since 2012.

Wisconsin has now won 6 of its last 7 games coming off of a scheduled bye week, dating back to 2017. Luke Fickell is now 7-1 as a head coach coming off of a bye.

After the win, Wisconsin holds a 56-22 record in regular season conference play since the Big Ten went to its current format in 2014. Only Ohio State owns a higher win- ning percentage in the Big Ten over that span.

By building a 17-0 lead at the half, Wisconsin has outscored opponents, 38-3, in the first half over the last two games.

By winning four of its first five games, Wisconsin is off to its best start since 2019. The Badgers went 6-0 to begin the 2019 campaign.

With Wisconsin’s win, Fickell is the 4th- straight UW HC to begin his first full season with a 4-1 record (Bielema, Andersen, Chryst).

Including a win in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl, Fickell is the first Wisconsin HC to win five of his first six games since Bret Bielema in 2006. Bielema went 12-1 in his first season at the helm.

The return was the fourth-longest in school history

UW also held Rutgers to 2-for-12 (16.7%) on third down. It’s the second time UW has held an opponent to 2 third-down conversions as Buffalo went 2-for-15 (13.3%) on Sept. 2. 5.

Before Tanner Mordecai’s fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Tucker Ashcroft, the Badgers had a streak of 10-straight offensive touchdowns scored on the ground, includ- ing 5 against Georgia Southern, all 4 against Purdue and 1 against Rutgers.

Wisconsin has 15 rushing TDs through five games this season, its highest total since rack- ing up 20 rushing scores in 2019.

With a rushing score in the win, it’s the third time in the last 10 years UW has had 15+ TDs through the first five games of a season.
