I cut the depth chart down from a three-deep to a two-deep and what I'd expect to be released before the Alabama opener. It's clearly a little tricky because of injuries.

QB - Stave's the starter, and it could very well read Houston OR Gillins this fall in the backup role.

RB - Clement's the starter, while Ogunbowale has created some separation from Deal as the No. 2. Shaw is trending in the right direction as the No. 4 and could see time this year.

FB - Watt, Straus and Ramesh.

WR - Erickson's the one constant while McEvoy was seen a ton of time here as well. Probably an indication the safeties have performed well and he's needed more on offense. Fredrick has been solid this fall, but Wheelwright has been hurt again. Love, Peavy, Rushing and Sanders have been inconsistent, though they will have to play this fall.

TE - Fumagalli and Traylor have had good camps, though Fumagalli was injured during the scrimmage. Steffes and Penniston will also see time this year.

OT - This is where it gets interesting. Marz is locked in at left tackle, but the top two candidates opposite him are injured, Benzschawel and Biegel. This has put Williams, who is a better fit a guard, over to the right side with Maxwell, a redshirt freshman, backing up both positions. Biegel should be back during camp; Benzschawel won't. I'm hearing he'll be out close to six weeks with a knee injury.

OG - Ball, who was coming off a good game against Auburn, has not played well this fall. Kapoi took first team reps Saturday and could be the week 1 starter. On the other side, Deiter has been very good. Dietzen, a true freshman, will likely serve as his backup.

C - Voltz is back and Wisconsin has to keep him healthy. If he goes down, I would imagine Deiter bumps over and either Ball or Dietzen fill in at right guard. Panos is probably still a year away but is working as the backup.

----

DE - Goldberg and Obasih have had strong camps and Keefer should be able to add some depth, along with Neuville and James, who have worked in the nickel package, as well.

NG - Sheehy is the starter and Patterson recently returned from an injury. Sagapolu played well as the No. 2 when Patterson was out and could contribute if needed this year.

MLB - Depending on Jacobs' injury, Orr could start against Alabama in his home state of Texas. Edwards is back and starting opposite him. Connelly, Jones and possibly Brookins will provide some depth. Ingold and Thomas have played a lot this fall but could be allowed to redshirt.

OLB - Not a ton of news on the outside this fall -- which is a good thing. Biegel and Schobert are in line for big seasons with Hayes and Cichy as their backups, respectively.

CB - Shelton and Hillary with Tindal as the No. 3. Jamerson is a reliable No. 4, though Booker, a true freshman, has also had a good camp.

S - We expect McEvoy to also get a lot of time at safety, but Caputo and Musso have ran with the No. 1s in his absence. Dixon is working behind Caputo and Figaro behind Musso.

Specialists - Meyer (P), Gaglianone (PK) and Endicott and kickoffs. Erickson will likely handle punts with Jamerson and Rushing on kick returns.
