I was in Middleton on Friday night for its game against Sun Prairie. I made the trip to see 2022 edge Isaac Hamm, who remains uncommitted. He's been fighting through what appeared to be a shoulder injury and it was pretty evident that he's not 100 percent. He gutted it out and played a lot of snaps on both sides of ball to help Sun Prairie stay undefeated on the season. I believe he either didn't play or was only in for one quarter the previous week.
Recruiting-wise, Hamm has not made any visits this fall. From the outside looking in, that seems like a concern, especially for Wisconsin, which has had three home games within a 15-minute drive from Sun Prairie. But after talking to some people, I'm still confident he winds up signing with the Badgers. I don't get the feeling that there's a sense of urgency from either side, largely because both Hamm and Wisconsin know how this is expected to play out. As far as when Hamm adds his name to Wisconsin's 2022 commit list, that's still up in the air. The people close to him are not even sure when that will happen, from what I was told. That said, I get the feeling that there aren't any other schools really in the mix right now. Hamm seems to have put recruiting to the side in order to focus on his senior season.
As far as where he fits at Wisconsin, outside linebacker makes a lot of sense. Hamm was listed at 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds on the Sun Prairie roster. He played standing up at the line of scrimmage on Friday, moving all over the place depending on down and distance. The biggest thing that stood out to me is how quick and sudden he is at the snap of the ball. Hamm just has a unique burst and that quick-twitch ability that makes him such an intriguing pass rusher. With that, he's also a violent player who certainly doesn't shy away from contact.
