I've caught an undercurrent on this board that Gary Anderson's recruiting is the reason for the problems on this team and will create holes down the road. I disagree. The talent among the freshman and sophomore ranks is fine but the senior class is one of the weakest I've seen at Wisconsin in decades.
If you take out Stave and Erickson (both walkons) here's the seniors ... Derek Straus, Derek Watt, Jordan Frederick, AJ Jordan, Jake Stengel, Austin Traylor, Jesse Hayes, Terrance Floyd, Darius Hillary, Mike Caputo, TJ Reynard, Tanner McEvoy, Jake Keefer, Ray Ball. In my opinion Caputo, and maybe Hillary played above their recruiting rating, Watt and maybe Austin Traylor played at the level of their recruiting rating, and everyone else fell short. I am not sure any will be drafted by the NFL.
I get that Melvin Gordon would be a senior, and we lost a bunch of linemen to career injuries. But if you think there's a talent problem on the team, I think Gary Anderson is the wrong guy to blame.
