Thoughts on giving more PT to 2nd string in football and basketball

If the coaches would play talented guys for a limited time every game would they stay on the team? Play trey wedig and Nolan rucci a quarter every game. Give conor essegian 15 minutes. I understand there is a lot of pressure on coaches to win now but how do you develop guys and incentivize them to stay if they never play? The 2nd string ol is very green. After next year the bb team is going to need a number of transfer portal players whether or not gard is still coach
