Been some buzz about it this week. I can confirm there is mutual interest. Nothing beyond that.

Ncaa Wrestling championship was this weekend and I read that WISCONSIN had the 6th most # of natives representing their state representing. UW only had 1 all American from WI. Furthermore,
4 h.s. seniors from WI are top 3 nationally in their respective weight classes with all going to schools outside of WI.
Bono was brought in to recruit and has clearly lost out on the top level kids going to Askren's club (nationally ranked club program in Hartland). Situation is similar to Gardo's with in state talent. Any insiders know what's really going on or if Bono is on short leash?

Looks like Paez will use his sixth year elsewhere.

Gard has won 2 postseason games in the last 7 years. Online articles say his buyout is ~$12M.

1. @Jon McNamara Fan frustrations aside, do you believe that firing him is a realistic possibility that Mac is seriously considering?
2. Is UW better off to repurpose that $12M buyout money towards football/NIL and let Gard stay?

Apparently, Russell Wilson will sign with Steelers.

It seems like Pittsburgh is becoming the Badger NFL home.

As a NY Giants fan, I was hoping he would sign with us (though I think Pittsburgh is the smarter move for him). However, I do have room for an AFC team.

I've always been a big Gard supporter. I'm not saying that he should go, but have we seen his ceiling? I've seen other posters have said that he recruits the same players over and over. He kind of does. Blackwell, Storr and Freitag are different though. Is this an adjustment? He's become more of an offensive coach this year but has sacrificed defense for the first time in his career. Are we OK with 3rd, 4th, 5th place finishes? Is Mac? If not Gar, who?

We won the last two games vs them and are looking to repeat as champions . And win it for 3rd time in past 4 years .

Continue to be impressed by Xzavion Mitchell. Still some things to work on like his outside shooting, but he's long and has great slashing ability. Also really like him at the top of North's 1-3-1 zone - he's really disruptive up top.

As far as recruiting, I get the feeling Iowa State leads right now, but Wisconsin is right there. Gard watched him on Thursday evening in a loss to Brookfield Central. He visited for games at the Kohl Center twice this season.

Talking to Mitchell, he stressed being patient and playing things out. A big reason for that is the offers that are expected to come this spring and summer. Those close to his recruitment think he has a chance to explode during the AAU season.
