With Scruggs' transitioning out in a matter of days/hours i took a few minutes over lunch to look at former coaches at OSU & Cincy who crossed paths with Fickell (and for the heck of it looked at Vrabel staffers too) in hopes of getting a feel for guys they've worked with.
Not Happening:
Mike Vrabel
Al Washington-- ND (DL/ RGC)
Larry Johnson-- OSU (DL/AHC)
Could be considered:
Walter Stewart- Current Cincy DL Coach- coached OLB's in 2022 with LF
Chad Wilt- Was a DL coach for LF in Cincy Prior stops as DC @ Indiana, DL @ MN, currently ST & Rush End Coach at MSU
Mark Snyder (59yrs old)- last stop XFL as a DL coach. Previous experience includes DC at OSU, Tex A&M, DE's at FSU (worked with Fickell at OSU)
Matt Edwards- A Vrabel connection-- Currently an assistant DL coach in Buffalo Bills, DL assistant with the Raiders, Def. Assistant in Tenn-- 15yrs coaching at the college level
Kenechi Udeze-A Vrabel connection (40yr old)- Pass rush specialist with Texans, prev. assistant DL coach with the Titans, college exp. as DL coach @ USC, etc.
Obviously the last two guys are coaching in the league so you wonder if there's interest in "dropping down" to college (though Scruggs did it).
