Step by step...we are getting better!

1. Van Dyke = Mordecai imo
2. Mellusi coming back is HUGE! We also have 3 stud RB's coming in!
3. Hopefully the new OL coach will be an amazing teacher
4. We have 274 LB's now, stars wise, we are WAY better!
5. DL? Who knows
6. DB's and S, with the existing true frosh and the incoming transfers, we (on paper) MUCH better
7. WR's who have learned the system, hopefully continue to improve. I'm not concerned as most about the burner, we have Anthony and KBJ and a bunch of possession receivers
that could open that up
8. ST We're solid with Vakos. Bertrams is a mystery. Some games he was amazing, others, not so much. Anthony is solid in the return game but would Pauling be better?
9. Which incoming freshmen will contribute? My guess would be Stec, Jones, and Willor. Possibly Agard, (RS frosh) but he is Terrell Buckley small
10. ROUGH schedule but let's make some noise! I'm still guessing that we're 2 years away

Wisconsin Basketball - The Continuity Ballscreen Offense

UW Basketball - Scoring is up. Efficiency is up. But why? Sure personnel and development help but that's not the only thing that is different this year.

UW is running continuity ballscreen offense.

Here's a great video explaining continuity ballscreen offense

Continuity isn't new
It's heavily featured in college and euro ball.
It can be run as a primary offense or in end of shot clock scenarios

Everyone knows Continuity. If you run it as your main offense and have consistent reads it can become easy to scout. If you have a bunch of actions that counter initial actions and your team really dive into the intricacies...it can be very difficult to defend.

What's interesting is the personnel. Bigs that have another skill (perimeter shooting or ability to drive) really do well in this offense. The offense is known for producing a high rate of open 3s. But that isn't how UW uses it because we aren't taking a ton of 3s.

Reading between the tea leaves - I think Kirk Penney has really been influential in the use of Continuity. We adopted it this summer. He arrived this summer. Kirk has played a ton internationally and that's where the offense was really developed.

It will be interesting to see how teams defend it. Nebraska was awful. Doubling the post on continuity doesn't seem like a great idea...that didn't stop them from trying/failing. It will also be interesting to see the tweaks UW uses as teams try to stop it.

FOOTBALL Chryst vs. Fickell: Breaking down the projected spring roster

Was thinking about Fickell and company turning over the roster over the last year, so I broke it down. Aidan Vaughan's transfer tilted the favor towards Fickell, 53-52. Obviously it will continue to move in that direction.

OT Packer WRs - Recruiting Profiles

I always think it provides helpful perspective to look at NFL players and see how they were viewed coming out of HS. Check out these profiles. I think the Den would not have been excited by most of these recruits, and the higher ranked ones are the lower ranked ones on the Packers depth chart.
