When Fick hired Longo, Longo said that he wants to run an air raid offense..He WANTS to but can't due to his personnel. Running an air raid offense with this personnel would be like running a power rushing game with Nate White. Longo is working with what he has, and that's not much. The previous regime left this program pretty bare They recruited to just compete, not to really dominate. I think that Chryst felt comfortable leading a team that makes a mediocre bowl. He rarely went after elite recruits and that left us what we have now. We have OK players that aren't difference makers or playmakers. Fickell is going after those players. Star players bring in star players. If you look at Barry's classes, he had a few (maybe) in his first year. A few more in his second, and more in his third etc...I hope that you're getting my point. This is going to take some time, and I hope you realize that. I'm not saying that the cupboard was as bare as it was when Barry took over, but as far as scheme wise goes. it kinda was. This year, we brought guys in to plug holes, next year is a different mindset imo. The 3 RB's that we have coming in, would have ALL started last week. ALL of the OL recruits are MUCH more athletic than what we have right now! All of this points to a VERY bright future, so that we can run an offense and defense that our coaches envisioned. I'm not saying next year, possibly in 2, maybe 3. Like I said, give it time!
