BASKETBALL Badgers Takeaways from Wisconsin's 85-61 Win Over Holy Cross

Wisconsin experienced a 40-point swing in its season opener, picking up its defensive pressure and attacking the rim to dig itself out of a 16-point hole to earn a comfortable win. My takeaways

Brady Collins

So I for one was very excited to hear when Brady Collins came to the Badgers. Reading stats on the player speed improvement and being better conditioned for the 4th quarter. Players are excited about the new workouts and the vibe is electric you read. However, I have yet to see this transition to field. Don’t see the wide receivers seperating consistently, backs don’t look to much faster, neither the DL or OL seemed to have shown a stepped improvement. Perhaps it needs more time but I can’t say I have seen an impact. Even Wohlers doesn’t seem to shown me a significant performance impact.

Can we really be this dumb?

Iowa literally never throws the ball. And we trot out 5 defensive backs and 2 defensive linemen. In the 1st half, Iowa had 3 completed passes and a million yards rushing, and how did we start the 2nd half on defense? 5 dbs and 2 down linemen? I don’t know what to say??? Tressel coached in the BIG before, Fickell coached in the BIG before. How can you possibly think this is smart football? Seriously 4 defensive linemen with 4 linebackers would probably have been the correct defense. I can not remember ever seeing stupidity like this for a Badger football team.

Other dumb shit by this staff
1. Throwing more than running
2. Being complely incapable of figuring out how to use Trech AND Pauling at the same time. And therefore our most dynamic WR against man coverage gets zero catches.
3. Never having motion!!!! If you are going to make your inexperienced quarterback throw so much help him understand if it’s man or zone. Also motioning TEs gives you over loads and an extra blocker already running with force.
4. RPO. Aaron Witt has to cover an entire side of the field by himself!!! Against a fast QB
5. Is there anyone in the effing world who thought what that what we really needed was a Mike Leach offense? Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, ND all run power running offenses balanced by creative passing. Get a coach from these schools!

Bad year for my Badger sports

Football disappointing again. Trying to grind out 6-6 and a bowl.

Volleyball down by their standards. Swept by Neb tonight. Not hosting second weekend, looks like they get bounced in S16 or E8.

Men’s hockey looks horrible. They are 1-6

Men’s basketball losing to UNI in secret scrimmage and grinding out wins over River Falls. Looks like it could be a long year.

I don’t go to women’s hockey games but maybe I should, need a winner this year.
