Legal Settlement update including impact to Collectives

Thought this article was pretty interesting. This will be costly for the schools and I think will eventually need some level of codification with Congress. At least it buys more time but one positive is that it looks like the spending on Collectives could be cooled significantly although I am sure some schools will look for loopholes.

NCAA Legal "House" Case Settlement Discussions

I think schools will look to squeeze more revenues out of their stadiums ala the NFL. Could you see more schools look to sell naming rights? Definitely more premium seating options. This is also driving the B1G and SEC to maximize revenue from TV via adding top schools and this could also force the hand of Notre Dame.

Jimmie Foster

Saw a tweet yesterday that Jimmie Foster interviewed with Gard. I really didn’t know who he was…but read his bio on the Bradley Website. He is one of the associate head coaches for Brian Waddle and from MKE…seems like a solid guy known for recruiting and working with big men. It seems like it’s time for a hire…and has for a couple weeks

Who's your favorite FB recruit of all time?

Mine would have to be Chucky Davis out of GA. He was the Georgia pthink thaI think that Taylor was a melayer of the year, ahead of Herschel Walker. He was amazing until his knee injury. Franc Fulco was the player of the year in MD, but somehow didn't materialize here. Tony Elliot was the #1 DT in the nation, who transferred out due to grades, I think that Taylor was a meh. but turned out GREAT! I was excited with Bekham. I was over the moon with Hawthorne, Who you got?

FOOTBALL RECRUITING 2025 RB Isaiah West: 'Wisconsin is probably at the top in terms of contact'

Feels like a Wisconsin vs. Penn State battle right now, and the Nittany Lions already have commitments from Kiandrea Barker and Tiqwai Hayes in 2025.

In terms of who else Wisconsin has a good shot with at tailback in 2025, I was told to watch West, as well as Bud Coombs and Byron Louis.

This paying for players is out of CONTROL!!!

Just learned that Great Osebor from Utah State, just "committed" to Washington for 2 million dollars. Apparently, the highest amount in the transfer portal this year for basketball. Further, it's been rumored that Steve Balmer has been lurking around campus/NIL offices in the area.

So what does Balmer get for 2,000,000???? Nothing...absolutely nothing. He just paid a kid 2,000,000 for no value in return...how does this work from the IRS perspective??? Boggles my mind.

This makes me less confident in landing a big man.

Once upon a time...

The NCAA world, both in football and basketball, was driven by GREAT assistant coaches who could recruit. Yes the Calipari's and Pitono's of the world would seal the deal, but it was the assistant coaches who brought them in. They also needed to be good teachers, but if you're bringing the Shaquille O'Neals of the world, not so much. In todays world, the assistants have to be more of a negotiator. We are losing the amateur game quickly. IMO, the courts need to do something like 2-3-4 year contracts to prevent the 1 year transfer garbage.

Which true freshmen do you think will see the field this year?

Heywood? I think that he'll be much like Brunner in his freshman year. He'll be in the 2 deep all year but will retain his redshirt. I think that Willor will improve enough to see some spot duty. I think that Heiberger has the athleticism to help out on special teams. I think that 1 of Jones/Dupree get some time, with Dupree (in my mind) get's the nod due to his pass catching ability. The only other freshman that I would even consider is Lucas, based on his size speed.
