MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin junior safety Hunter Wohler was named a CSC Academic All-American, as announced by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday morning. Wohler earned a spot on the All-America second team.
Wohler, a Muskego, Wis., native, led the Badgers with 120 tackles on his way to earning AP All-Big Ten honors in 2023. Wohler tallied the most tackles for a Wisconsin defensive back since 1991 and became the only defensive back in the country to have 110+ tackles and multiple interceptions last season. 74 of Wohler’s 120 tackles were solos, the most in a single season for a Badger since 2001.
Wohler’s impressive season was highlighted by a two-interception performance versus Georgia Southern on Sept. 16 and a 12-tackle showing to close the regular season in a rivalry victory over Minnesota.
Off of the field, Wohler has maintained a 3.62 GPA in the Wisconsin School of Business within his Real Estate & Urban Land Economics degree program. In addition to his coursework, Wohler has been active with the Badgers’ community service efforts. Over the last year, Wohler has participated in reading at schools, Boys & Girls Club activities and visits to the American Family Children’s Hospital.
Wohler is the first Badger to earn Academic All-America status since defensive lineman Matt Henningsen was tabbed to the All-America first team in both 2020 and 2021. Wohler is the 20th Badger to earn the recognition since 1952.
